We started in a backyard in 1986, and while our purpose and values never veered, we only recently became a charitable, tax-deductible  501(c)(3) organization. We decided to do this because we've always operated under some main principles: rely primarily on volunteer support, and put any proceeds back into the continuation of the group.

Our focus has always been sharing the rich history, music, and culture of the 1950s and 60s Rock and Roll Era. To that end, our mission is three-fold:

1. Providing a nurturing environment in which children and young adults can (a) engage meaningfully with the greater community through the performing arts; (b) celebrate individuality, expression, creativity, and performance; and (c) develop interpersonal, leadership and teamwork skills;

2. Increasing the knowledge of its members about dance, music, culture, and history associated with the 1950's and 60's through active participation, regularly scheduled instruction and rehearsal, and attending related educational events and institutions;

3. Promoting the magic, meaning, and memories of the 1950's and 60's music through reenactments, performances and other related activities.

"When I talk about rock n' roll, to me, that goes back to the beginning of the 1950s.
Blue suede shoes and sideburns, man. Pink and black coloured clothes.
Turn your collar up, comb your hair in ducktails. And the music was cool.
It was a whole culture then - a different world."
~~Bobby Keys: "the best rock 'n' roll saxophone player in the world"

Noted author Mark Twain wrote, "To get the full value of joy you must have someone to divide it with." Our performing members truly understand this and are inspired by "Giving Back with a Song and a Dance."
